Buckeye men's basketball coach Chris Holtmann refused to confirm the details of a report from The Columbus Dispatch that Ohio State forward Andre Wesson will miss a couple weeks with a fractured eye socket, but did confirm that the senior remains under the care of the team's medical staff for an eye injury.
"He took a pretty good hit," Holtmann said, pointing to a play in Wednesday's 64-56 win over Cincinnati in which Wesson played 32 minutes, scored seven, made two rebounds, and had a significant impact on defense.
"He will be out for our game against UMass-Lowell," Holtmann continued. "I think the disappointing thing is, you hate to see a senior, especially one that has meant so much to our program like Andre, miss any time."
Last season, Wesson averaged 30 minutes, with 8.6 points, and 4.1 boards a contest.
