Endorsements For Ohio State's New Quarterbacks Coach

It hasn't even been made official, but Ohio State's reported move of promoting Corey Dennis to be the team's next quarterbacks coach has already garnered some positive reviews.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports was the first to share news of the hire. The Athletics' Bill Landis would subsequently add that the move will announced by the university this upcoming week.

Dennis started at OSU as an intern in 2015, and was named a graduate assistant coach on offense for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. In 2018, he was elevated to the position of senior quality control coach working with the team's quarterbacks and wide receivers.

The Buckeyes described his role as including "game planning, practice planning and daily organization."

Former Ohio State signal caller Dwayne Haskins went even further, saying in 2018 that Dennis basically functioned as his personal coach. "He has everything that Coach Day teaches him and helps me out with it throughout practice, throughout meetings; so he helps me a lot."

Thus, it was no surprise when Haskins tweeted his congratulations.

And he wasn't the only former Buckeye to weigh in.

In the end, it wasn't just players. Trainer Quincy Avery, has worked with Haskins, as well as with current Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, and with incoming quarterback recruit CJ Stroud (Stroud even brought Avery along with him on a recruiting visit).
