The Columbus Crew selected striker Miguel Berry with the seventh overall pick in today's MLS SuperDraft.
The forward scored 38 goals in his 4 seasons with the Toreros, and was a second-team All-American his senior year.
Berry was also a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is college soccer's version of the Heisman.
The 22-year-old is a native of Poway, California, and there is at least one report that Columbus's attempt to add him to their roster will be a little more complicated than is typical for a first-round draft pick.
The Crew also owns picks 47, 49, 59, and 85.
