Ohio State's basketball coaching staff in 2017-18 is going to look at lot like last year's Butler coaching staff. Nothing is official yet, but it appears new OSU coach Chris Holtmann is bringing his entire staff with him, including Ryan Pedan, a Bexley native, who has become a key recruiter for the Butler program.
Pedon posted the above photo of Hinkle Field House--with a goodbye message to Butler early Wednesday morning. Another top Butler assistant, Terry Johnson, appears to be headed to Columbus as well. Both were considered for the Butler head coaching job after Holtmann left, but neither got the job, which went to LaVall Jordan--a former Butler player who has been head coach at Milwaukee.
While the Butler staff is headed to OSU, it remains to be seen if any Butler recruits will follow suit. Topping that list is Kyle Young, a 6'8 small forward from Massillion Jackson. He has signed with Butler, but was considering Ohio State. With Holtmann bringing his staff to Columbus, there is speculation that Young may follow suit. It would be a big get for Ohio State, considering that there are only 9 players on the Buckeyes current roster.
