Since he became coach at Ohio State six years ago, Urban Meyer has had the "black stripe" tradition. Every freshman that arrives on campus is issued a helmet that includes a strip of black tape. The tape remains on the helmet until that player proves to his coaches and teammates that he is truly a Buckeye. The first freshman honored with the black stripe removal this year is running back JK Dobbins out of Texas.
Dobbins arrived on campus last winter and shined during spring ball. Apparently he continues to shine. Returning starter Mike Weber has been on the mend early in camp due to a minor hamstring injury, so Dobbins has had even bigger opportunity to turn some heads. Clearly he did. Check out some quick practice highlights of Dobbins and his stripe removal.
