Thayer Munford, Pete Werner Lose Black Stripe

Make it seven Ohio State football freshmen who are now full-fledged Buckeyes. Urban Meyer and the Buckeye staff removed the black stripe from the helmets of offensive lineman Thayer Munford and linebacker Pete Werner, signifying that the two freshmen have graduated from newcomer status to bona fide members of the team.

Munford, out of Massillon, has been mentioned frequently by the coaching staff during camp for his play. At one point in fact, Meyer mentioned Munford as being in the mix to start at right guard and Werner is a talented recruit from Indianapolis, who was among the top prospects in Indiana.

Munford and Werner join running back JK Dobbins, safety Isaiah Pryor, defensive end Chase Young, defensive tackle Haskell Garrett and defensive back Jeffrey Okudah as freshmen who have had their black stripes removed during this training camp.
