Boilers Bury Buckeyes

A year ago, heavily favored Ohio State went to Iowa and was blown out. Saturday night in West Lafayette, Indiana it was deja vu. Purdue, a 12-point underdog, led the Buckeyes from start to finish and walloped OSU 49-20.

The Buckeyes were often their own worst enemy, committing 10 penalties, two of which extended Purdue drives which ultimately resulted in touchdowns. Ohio State also made five trips into the red zone and had only a pair of field goals to show for it. The run game on offense continued to be an issue as well, as the Buckeyes rushed for only 76 yards--failing to total 100 yards on the ground for a second straight week.

Quarterback Dwayne Haskins threw an Ohio State record 73 passes, completing 49 for a record 470 yards in the loss.

Ohio State (7-1, 4-1 Big 10) is off next Saturday before resuming its schedule, at home, against Nebraska November 3. If you missed the post-game comments of Urban Meyer and Dwayne Haskins, you can check them out below.
