It was fun Wednesday morning to again get to talk Buckeye Football with Stan Jackson. As many of you know, for 15 months, Stan worked with me at the now defunct 105.7, The Zone talking sports every afternoon. The Big Ten Network Football analyst joined Joel Riley and me this morning on WTVN to talk about the start of Ohio State spring football.
There are many story lines for the Buckeyes this spring, such as the start of the Ryan Day era, a quarterback battle between incoming transfer Justin Fields and redshirt sophomore Matthew Baldwin, a completely revamped defensive coaching staff, position battles on both sides of the ball and the debut of six incoming freshmen who enrolled early and are going through their first Ohio State practices. What's Stan's number one story line for this Buckeye team?
"How do you replace an icon? How do you replace a legend?," Stan said on the Joel Riley show. "I'm not talking about the quarterback (Dwayne Haskins) who had a sensational season. Urban Meyer is no longer on the sideline. Now his presence is gone and you've got to maintain this high level of play and that's a lot of pressure for Coach Day."
In addition to discussing the start of the Ryan Day era, we got into the quarterback position, Justin Fields or Matthew Baldwin taking over for Haskins, the Buckeyes who just shined at the NFL combine and more. Loved getting to spend a few minutes with Stan again. If you missed it, you can check it out here.
