In less than two months, the Columbus Destroyers season will be underway. Until that April 27 opener in Albany, Matthew Sauk, the coach of the new Arena Football League team is going to be rather busy.
It's already started for Sauk and the Destroyers organization. This week they've picked up their first players during AFL free agency. The roster will be added to and tweaked when the Destroyers have open tryouts March 23 at Bo Jackson's Elite Sports facility.
Sauk took a few minutes to talk about the return of Arena Football to Columbus, including the home opener in Nationwide Arena, May 18, the building of his roster, and even the "Captain Destroyer" female mascot (tryouts coming March 30). Sauk joined Joel Riley and me on WTVN Thursday morning and we enjoyed talking with him.
