Blazers React To The Trade Of Former Buckeye Evan Turner

In the grand scheme of the NBA, the trade was minor, but for teammates of former Buckeye Evan Turner, yesterday's deal, sending Turner from Portland to Atlanta for Kent Bazemore, was a big deal. Turner, one of the key reserves for the Blazers Western Conference Finals team, has developed a reputation as a solid player and a true NBA professional who is popular in the locker room. With a young and developing team, perhaps that's what Atlanta is looking for from Turner. He will be a veteran influence on a team that includes rookie of the year finalist Trae Young, who is just 20 years old and incoming rookies like Virginia product De'Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish of Duke. The social media reaction from Portland players (below) is all you needed to see to understand the kind of guy Turner is and the kind of personality the Hawks are getting. E.T. is among my favorite former Buckeyes to cover. Yes, his success on the court, as national player of the year in 2010 has something to do with it, but more than that, Turner's personality is what made him unforgettable. Good luck in Atlanta Evan!
