Former Buckeye Terry McLaurin was the talk of Washington Redskins training camp. Now we know why. The rookie, in his first NFL game hauled in 5 passes for 125 yards including a 70-yard touchdown in Washington's season opening 32-29 loss to Philadelphia. If his debut is any indication, McLaurin, taken in the 3rd round of the NFL draft, was a steal.
Other NFL Buckeyes had productive season openers. Nick Bosa, taken No. 2 overall by San Francisco, recorded his first NFL sack in the 49ers 31-17 win over Tampa Bay. After his prolonged holdout, Zeke Elliott reported to Dallas camp last Wednesday and was on the field in the Cowboys season opening 35-17 win over the New York Giants. Elliott scored the final TD of the game and finished with 13 carries for 53 yards. Sam Hubbard, starting his second year with the Bengals, was outstanding in Cincinnati's 21-20 loss in Seattle, recording 6 tackles and 2 sacks, and Malik Hooker, beginning his 3rd year with Indianapolis, had an acrobatic 1-handed interception in Indy's overtime loss to the Chargers.
