We're only three weeks away from the release of the first College Football Playoff ranking and Ohio State, at 6-0, is currently in position to make the four team playoff field. That's according to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports.com. Palm, well known nationally for his number crunching both in college football and basketball, is projecting that Ohio State is the No. 4, and would meet No. 1 Alabama December 28 in the Peach Bowl. He projects the other semifinal to be No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl. Palm explained to Joel Riley on WTVN that LSU is probably a top four team right now, but he is projecting a loss down the road in their head-to-head match-up with Alabama. If LSU were to win that, the Tigers would move into the top 4. The same is true with Ohio State and Wisconsin, who meet in Ohio Stadium on October 26. We went over all kinds of scenarios with Jerry, who broke it all down for us. You can check out the interview here.
