Ohio State is No. 4 in the coaches poll, No. 3 in the Associated Press but No. 1 in this season's first College Football Playoff Poll. The committee put Ohio State in the top spot with LSU, Alabama, Penn State and Clemson rounding out the top five. It sets up some major showdowns this month, as No. 2 LSU visits No. 3 Alabama this Saturday. In just over two weeks, the top-ranked Buckeyes welcome No. 4 Penn State. Those games seem destined to shape the four teams that will ultimately reach the College Football Playoffs and play in the semifinals December 28. If you missed the unveiling of the rankings Tuesday night, you can catch yourself up below.
Ohio State will put its No. 1 ranking on the line for the first time Saturday at noon against Maryland. As he does every Tuesday, former Buckeye assistant coach and part of our Best Buckeye Coverage team, Bill Conley, joined Joel Riley to talk Buckeyes. We talked to Bill before the CFP poll came out and asked what he expected (Bill thought OSU would be No. 2) but also talked about the Buckeyes upcoming schedule, with two lower level teams, Maryland and Rutgers the next two weeks before the big finish with Penn State and Michigan. Good stuff, as always from Coach Conley. You can check out Joel's visit with Bill here.
