Ohio State's No. 1 rank in the first 2019 College Football Playoff poll was a surprise to some, but not to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports. Palm crunches the numbers for CBS and predicts what the playoff committee might do each week and told our Joel Riley on WTVN that the committee got it right by ranking the Buckeyes ahead of the other contenders.
"There's debates to be had between Ohio State and LSU, but I think Ohio State being number 1 makes a lot of sense," Palm said on WTVN Wednesday. "Ohio State has completely laid waste to their entire schedule--good teams and bad."
The Buckeyes are first followed by LSU, Alabama and Penn State. Defending champion and unbeaten Clemson is fifth, with 1-loss Georgia at No. 6. Palm talked with us about the rankings, the big games in the future and more. It was an interesting and informative conversation with one of the well known authorities on the CFP.
