The numbers for the Basketball Buckeyes are staggering. First in the nation in scoring margin (+26.2), second in field goal percentage defense (33.3%), fifth in scoring defense (54.7 ppg) and 14th in 3-point field goal percentage (41.3%.) Ohio State is first in the Big Ten in all of those categories and is coming off a monster week when it won at North Carolina and vs. Penn State by a combined 57 points. The 9-0 Buckeyes have risen to No. 3 nationally in the AP poll and could go higher--perhaps to No. 1 next week. Top-ranked Louisville was upset by Texas Tech Tuesday night. That figures to put Kansas No. 1 next week, although, the Jayhawks already have a loss on their resume and they have only a narrow lead over the Buckeyes in the AP voting. Ohio State, of course, needs to win at Minnesota Sunday to make another climb in the poll possible.
On the Joel Riley show on WTVN Tuesday, former Buckeye captain and 610 WTVN basketball analyst Tony White joined us to talk about this team, the 9-0 start, how they stack up nationally and more. Great interview here with Tony. You can check it out here.
