After winning three games in a row, including last Tuesday's 61-58 win over Michigan, there was hope that the Basketball Buckeyes had turned a corner. Sunday's performance against Wisconsin was a turn, but in the wrong direction. Many of the issues that plagued the Buckeyes when they lost 6 of 7, such as turnovers, guard play, consistent scoring and attention to detail on defense, reared their ugly head again, as the Buckeyes lost to the Badgers 70-57 in a game that was even more of a blowout than the score would indicate.
Despite the setback, Ohio State (15-8, 5-7 Big Ten) has an opportunity to right the ship this week, with home games coming up Wednesday vs. Rutgers (7 PM, Big Ten Network) and Saturday vs. Purdue (Noon on Fox.) Both games are winnable but both are against teams ahead of the Buckeyes in the Big Ten standings, as Rutgers is 8-5 in league play and Purdue is 7-6.
On Basketball Bucksline Monday, former Buckeye captain Tony White talked at length about the Buckeyes performance Sunday and the challenge of bouncing back. We had fantastic interaction with our listeners, with questions regarding Ohio State's defensive woes, coach Chris Holtmann, the development of the team, recruiting strategies and much more.
