Ohio State's 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked No. 1 in the country according to 24-7 sports and the quarterback in the class has made an impression on recruiting experts. Kyle McCord has been committed to the Buckeyes for nearly a year. He led his high school team, St. Joseph's in Philadelphia, to a Pennsylvania state championship this past season and in the updated recruiting rankings, McCord's status improved significantly. He earned a fifth-star in the 24-7 rankings and is now the No. 23 prospect overall in the 2021 class and the No. 2 pro-style quarterback.
Overall, Ryan Day's recruiting class has 10 commitments thus far, seven of which are ranked among the top 100 prospects nationally. An eighth (OT Ben Christman) is ranked 101st. McCord, 6'3 200 pounds, is a teammate of another Buckeye commitment, wide out Marvin Harrison Jr. who is the No. 60 prospect in 2021. The other top 100 players, according to 24-7 are Pickerington North DE Jack Sawyer, ranked No. 2, Texas OG Donovan Jackson (No. 45), Massillion Washington WR Jayden Ballard (No. 77), Streetsboro, DT Mike Hall (No. 91) and Ironton LB Reid Carrico (No. 96).
