Seth Towns hasn't played a game for the Basketball Buckeyes yet---but he's made his presence known. Towns, a Northland High School product and as of last week, a graduate of Harvard, was among those who took to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd. In a demonstration Friday night, Towns was detained by Columbus Police, but was not arrested. He was back downtown Sunday, speaking at another peaceful protest.
"I won't shut up...I won't stop," Towns said when he was interviewed on ESPN's SportsCenter Saturday. "I will continue to speak out for the people that are unheard and that's what I did."
Following Towns detainment, Harvard basketball coach Tommy Amaker posted a statement of support on social media, as did Buckeye coach Chris Holtmann. Towns spoke about the incident himself on his Twitter account.
Towns also posted part of his appearance at a Sunday demonstration downtown. You can see that posted below, as well as his full interview on ESPN SportsCenter.
