You can add PGA Tour pro Tony Finau to the list of guys raving about the Memorial Tournament. Finau, who is teaming with Jon Rahm in a 9-hole charity event at the Memorial Wednesday, joined 610 WTVN's Joel Riley.
"Every time anyone asks me for my favorite venues or golf courses on the PGA Tour, I always put Muirfield Village right near the top. I think it's an amazing golf course," Finau said. "There's a combination of why it's my favorite. venue. I love the golf course and I think Jack (Nicklaus) is a great host but the food and the milkshakes are what makes this special."
Finau's praise of the Muirfield milkshakes came a day after Kevin Streelman singled out the milkshakes in an interview with Joel as well. Finau wasn't surprised.
"If you every have an interview with any PGA Tour player and they don't bring up the milkshakes, I don't think you should be interviewing them anymore."
It was great to have Tony on. He and Rahm face Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell at 2 PM Wednesday on the Golf Channel, in the 9-hole charity event benefiting Nationwide Children's Hospital. They'll play the back 9 and there is a $1 million bonus donation that will be made should any of the four fire a hole in one on No. 12. We talked about the charity event, the Memorial, Finau's game (he's currently ranked 17th in the world) and much more in what was an entertaining interview.
