YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WTVN) --Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel is expected to become the next president at Youngstown State University.

YSU's Board of Trustees formally offered him the job Friday morning.

Their decision comes a day after trustees at the University of Akron chose former University of Toledo vice-president Scott Scarborough over Tressel as their next president.

Tressel currently serves as Executive Vice President for Student Success at the University of Akron and was the head football coach at Youngstown State before coming to Ohio State.

Tressel would become Youngstown State's ninth president, succeeding Randy J. Dunn, who resigned in March to become president of Southern Illinois University.
