COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- There's just one candidate left for the open Columbus City Schools superintendent's job.
David James said Wednesday he's decided to stay on as superintendent of Akron Public Schools.
In an open letter to Akron residents, James said his interest in Ohio's largest school district was tempered by the progress of the Akron schools and the community partnerships built with his leadership.
That leaves interim Columbus City Schools Superintendent Dr. John Stanford as the sole candidate for the job.
His hiring still needs to be finalized by the CCS Board of Education.
