Tokes' reaction to court tossing out wrongful death suit

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- The mother of Reagan Tokes, speaking for the first time since a state court tossed our her family's wrongful death lawsuit, says the state failed not once, not twice but a number of times.

Tokes, with 610 WTVN's "Mindy and Mikaela" says her daughter lost her life in the most terrifying, tragic way any human possibly could.

Reagan was kidnapped, raped and shot dead in February 2017 by convicted sex offender Brian Golsby.

Golsby is now serving a life sentence for the murder.

Three months before Reagan's murder, Golsby had been released from prison and was wearing a GPS ankle monitor.

Reagan's family had sued the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and others, claiming negligence.

Lisa Tokes says they'll continue to work to change what she sees as a "failing, flawed" system, as well as supporting the bill named for her daughter, self-defense practices and educating --as she puts it--an "innocent population to fight to justice".
