COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--An Ohio state representative is proposing new legislation which would increase the penalties for failing to stop for school buses.
Representative Niraj Antani Tuesday announced the drafting of House Bill 786 which would increase the fine for failing to stop for a school bus from 500-dollars to one-thousand dollars.
The bill would also set aside one-million dollars in state funding to help retrofit buses with cameras.
Recently there have been several accidents involving motorists failing to stop for buses, including one in Indiana where three children were killed in October.
