WILMINGTON, Ohio (WTVN)--The City of Columbus received a record amount of precipitation for a single calendar year in 2018.
The National Weather Service office in Wilmington says with the rain that fell through the day on Monday, and measured at John Glenn Columbus International Airport, Columbus's total precipitation for 2018 ended up at 55.18". That beat out the record set back in 2011, when 54.96" fell on the city.
Four of the ten wettest years on record for Columbus have come since 2000, with the city receiving 49.27" of precipitation in 2004, and 49.03" in 2008.
2004 was the 6th wettest year on record for Columbus, and 2003 was 8th.
