COLUMBUS, Ohio (24-7 News)--Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says he supports efforts to raise the state's minimum age to purchase tobacco products and e-cigarettes.
At a news conference Wednesday, representatives from the Ohio Health Department and Mental Health and Addiction Services spoke about the need to raise the age from 18 to 21.
Officials spoke directly about e-cigarettes saying their data shows around 60-percent of young people do not realize the product contains nicotine which caused addiction.
DeWine told reporters he expects the issue on raising the age to go before Ohio lawmakers in the next few months.
