OSU Police Officer Awarded Medal of Valor

WASHINGTON, DC (WTVN)--President Donald Trump honored police officers and first responders with the Medal of Valor on Wednesday at The White House. Among them, Ohio State University Police Officer Alan Horujko.

Horujko responded to the area near Watts Hall on campus on November 28, 2016, where an attacker drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk, striking pedestrians. The vehicle then hit a barrier, and was disabled, and that's when the attacker got out and began stabbing bystanders.

Officer Horujko responded and ordered the attacker to drop his knife. When the attacker lunged at him, Officer Horujko shot and killed him.

About a dozen people were injured in the attack, but no one else was killed.

President Trump remarked that the attacker was inspired by ISIS. Trump honored 12 people in all on Wednesday.
