COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Two teenagers were shot near an elementary school on the east side Wednesday evening, leaving one dead and the other in the hospital.
Police say it happened just before 7PM along Shady Lane Road, near Shady Lane Elementary School, with an argument among teenagers leading to the gunfire.
14-year-old Jaykwon Sharp was taken to Mt. Carmel East Hospital for treatment, but later died. A 14-year-old girl is at Nationwide Children's Hospital in stable condition.
Detectives have identified a person if interest in the case, but so far no arrests have been made.
It is Columbus's 43rd homicide of 2019.
