Friend of Dayton Shooter Facing Federal Charges

DAYTON, Ohio (WTVN)--A friend of the shooter that gunned down nine people, and injured 27 others in a shooting in Dayton on August 4th is now facing federal charges.

US District Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Ben Glassman, says 24-year-old Ethan Kollie is charged with lying on federal firearms forms, in order to purchase weapons, and illegally possessing those weapons.

Kollie, of Kettering, was arrested on Friday, and the indictment against him was unsealed on Monday.

Kollie is also accused of providing body armor to the shooter.

Kollie was interviewed twice shortly after the shooting, and agreed to a search of his home. Originally, he indicated he did not do drugs, but investigators found marijuana and a bong in his home.

He later admitted that he and the shooter did "hard drugs" together.

He faces up to 15 years in prison. Investigators do not consider Kollie an accomplice to the shooting.
