COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Division of Police has introduced its new unit, dedicated to comfort victims of crime, and to help fellow officers that may be going through a tough time.
The Department unveiled it's therapy dog unit, consisting of five canines, and their handlers, that are available to go to community events, respond to traumatic situations, and provide emotional support.
The unit can also comfort fellow officers, and be a vital toll in preventing suicides among department staff.
The unit consists of three Golden Retrievers, one Labrador Retriever, and one Bernese Mountain Dog.
