COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--It's purely based on weather, but a new report lists Columbus as one of the gloomiest places in America.
The survey from Best Places lists Columbus as the 7th gloomiest place in the country. It is based on a city's average cloud cover, hours of daylight, and days of rain and snow every year.
Cities in the northwest take the top two spots, with Seattle number 1, and Portland, Oregon 2nd.
Other nearby cities also made it high on the gloomy index, with Buffalo, New York 3rd, Cleveland 4th, and Detroit 6th.
The least gloomy city in America? Phoenix, Arizona.
