Ohio Bars, Restaurants, Spas, Barber Shops, Salons Can Reopen May 15th

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The original order for many of Ohio's establishments, like bars and restaurants to close, went into effect on March 16th, but Governor Mike DeWine is allowing those establishments, along with salons, barber shops, and spas, to reopen on May 15th.

DeWine says strict social distancing standards will be in place for both the establishment and the customer. He took input from a task force of industry experts on the guidelines.

Restaurants will only be allowed to seat customers in outdoor areas on the 15th, and can resume indoor dining on May 21st.

Tables will have to be at least six feet apart in both cases, or will require a physical divider between tables. Customers will either have to wait for a table in their vehicle, or in a designated queue. Salad bars and buffets will remain closed.

Similar waiting area rules will also be applied to salons, barber shops, and spas.

It will be up to the proprietor to determine whether masks are required for customers.

DeWine will reveal details of reopening daycare centers across Ohio on Monday.
