COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--In order to stop the spread of coronavirus as schools reopen this fall, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is issuing an order to have all students, in grades K-12, wear a mask when they are in the classroom.
DeWine says he's following recommendations made by the Ohio Children's Hospital Association and the Ohio chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Some exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
Many school districts are now deciding on whether to have classes all-online to start the school year, or have students in class for two days per week.
Franklin County Public health has recommended that school districts across the county proceed with online instruction. Some parents, meanwhile, are fighting for a return to the classroom, as well as a return of fall sports, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
