Buckeyes Fall in National Championship Game, 52-24

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida (WTVN)--The Ohio State Buckeyes were no match for the high-powered offense of the Alabama Crimson Tide, falling 52-24 in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Miami Monday night.

'Bama QB Mac Jones threw five touchdown passes, three of them to Heisman Trophy winning WR DeVonta Smith in the 1st half.

For Ohio State, QB Justin Fields threw for 194 yards and a touchdown. Fields is expected to declare himself eligible for the NFL Draft this spring.

Buckeye Running Back Trey Sermon was injured in the very first play of the game.

For Alabama, it's their 18th national championship. Head Coach Nick Saban wins his 7th national title overall, breaking a tie with "Bear" Bryant for the most in the modern era.
