CLEVELAND, Ohio (WTVN)--Months of speculation and mock drafts ended on Thursday with former Ohio State Quarterback Justin Fields taken 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, by the Chicago Bears.
Fields fell out of the top ten on the draft board, and that's when Chicago made their move, trading with the New York Giants to move up nine spots to take the former Buckeye signal-caller.
Fields is the first former Buckeye taken in this year's draft, and was the 4th Quarterback taken in the 1st round.
As for Ohio's NFL teams: The Bengals took LSU Wide Receiver Ja'Marr Chase with the 5th overall pick. The selection reunites QB Joe Burrow with one of his favorite targets in college, en route to the 2019 National Championship.
The Browns, with the 25th overall pick, selected Northwestern Cornerback Greg Newsome II.
