COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Ohio State Buckeyes will ring in the new year in sunny southern California.
Even though they did not make the College Football Playoff this season, Ohio State will play in the Rose Bowl on January 1st, 2022.
The Buckeyes will take on PAC-12 Champion Utah. Ohio State finished #6 in the College Football Playoff poll, with Utah #11.
It is Ohio State's 16th Rose Bowl appearance, with the last time in the game in 2019, Urban Meyer's last game as OSU Head Coach. The Buckeyes beat Washington 28-23, and is 8-7 all-time in the Rose Bowl.
Ohio State has won it's last three Rose Bowl appearances, going back to a come-from-behind 20-17 win over Arizona State in 1997.
The only prior meeting between the Buckeyes and Utes was in 1986, a 64-6 win by Ohio State in Ohio Stadium.
