Thompson, Loving Deliver In Buckeye Win

It wasn't easy, but the Basketball Buckeyes (13-8, 3-5 Big 10) picked up a much needed win Wednesday night in Value City Arena, downing Minnesota 78-72. Big man Trevor Thompson and senior forward Marc Loving each scored 19 points. Thompson did it early, scoring 12 of his points in the first half and Loving did it late, with 11 in the second half, including a key 3-pointer with just under a minute to go to extend the Buckeyes lead to six.

It looked like it could be an Ohio State runaway early. The Buckeyes came out on fire and built up a 40-23 lead in the late stages of the first half. They nearly squandered it though, as Minnesota closed the half with a 12-0 run to close to within five at the break. The second half was close throughout but the Buckeyes never trailed, hanging on for the six point victory.
