UPDATE: AMBER Alert was fake, mother charged with falsification

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- An Amber Alert for a missing 4-year old Columbus girl was canceled Monday morning, and Police now say that the girl was never missing.

Columbus Police say Janylia Failes showed up safe at her godmother's apartment on the northeast side of Columbus around 10 a..m. Monday.

Police began investigating when the mother's car was stolen this morning near the corner of East 4th Street and Chittenden Avenue, near the OSU campus.

Police say they found the car, a gray 2004 Chevy Impala, not far from the scene.

Police questioned the mother, the godmother, and the theft suspect. Investigators say the child was with the godmother the entire time, after her mother dropped her off at her apartment Sunday night, and the AMBER Alert was filed so police would find her stolen car faster.

The mother, identified as Jessica Ashley Pickett, is now charged with falsification. Her three children are now in custody of Franklin County Children's Services.
