Ohio's US senators split on Sessions

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Members of the US Senate from Ohio differ on what Attorney General Jeff Sessions should do, following a report that he made contact with the Russian Ambassador to the US during the 2016 Presidential election.

Senator Rob Portman is calling for Sessions to recuse himself from the Justice Department's investigation into the contact between Russia and the Trump campaign. Portman calling Sessions and former colleague and friend, saying it would be best for him and the country.

Senator Sherrod Brown wants Sessions to resign altogether immediately, saying, "It is deeply alarming that Attorney General Sessions would lie under oath especially dealings with the Russian Ambassador."

Portman supported Sessions's confirmation to the post, while Brown opposed it.
