Ohio State Honors Its Scholar Athletes

I'm as guilty of this as anyone. So often we spend our time discussing what Ohio State athletes do on the field, or court that we neglect to mention what they're doing in the classroom. Monday night, Ohio State made sure their athletes, who are getting it done with the books, had their special recognition. A record 626 Buckeyes were recognized at Ohio State's annual Scholar-Athlete banquet.

The Football Buckeyes were well represented with 38 scholar athletes, including defensive end Sam Hubbard, recognized for being an academic All American.

The top award academic award is the Big Ten Medal of Honor. Ohio State named 10 finalists. Seth Bearjar (pistol), Christy Blough (volleyball), Jake Martin (gymnastics), Donovan Robertson (track and field) and Nick Schilkey (hockey) were men's finalists with Lindsay Agnew (soccer), Emma Baranski (synchronized swimming), Elizabeth Davidson (synchronized swimming), Jessica Porvasnik (golf), and Taylor Vargo (swimming), named the women's finalists.

Congratulations to all of the scholar athletes. Here's some of the action from the banquet on Ohio State social media accounts Monday night.
