Pittsburgh Takes Game One

The Blue Jackets dominated the first period--out-shooting Pittsburgh 16-3. Unfortunately, none of those 16 shots found the back of the net. The Penguins regrouped after that, scoring twice in the first four minutes of the second period and the Jackets never recovered, losing game one of their playoff series 3-1.

The offensive issues that plagued the Jackets late in the season were present again. Matt Calvert's goal midway through the third period prevented the shut-out but it wasn't enough.

"We're going to have to find more offense obviously," Coach John Tortorella said. "They can score. I think they scored three goals on their first five chances. We're going to have to find a way to get on the inside and bang away and find more offense."

Hopefully, the Jackets can do just that Friday night in game two when the series resumes. Game three--the first in Nationwide Arena, is coming up Sunday.

Here's Coach Tortorella's post-game comments, as well as those of Captain Nick Foligno and Brandon Dubinsky.
