WARRENDALE, Pennsylvania, (24-7 News)--Teen clothing retailer Rue21 is closing stores as it appears headed toward bankruptcy.
The closings, announced Monday, include four in central Ohio--Circleville, Marion, Lewis Center, and the Tanger Outlet mall in Jeffersonville.
The company announced on its website over the weekend, quote, "It's true, we are closing some stores," adding, "It was a difficult but necessary decision."
The "Pittsburgh Business Times" puts the number of closures at 400, or about a third of all Rue21's locations.
Online sales will not be affected. Rue21 has been attempting a turnaround since a management shakeup last fall.
