Police seek clues in West Side shooting death

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Columbus police are going door to door on the West Side, hoping someone has information about a shooting death early Friday morning.

It began with a call about shots fired in the 700 block of Doulton Court, near Eakin Elementary School, then a second call around 2 a.m. about a shooting victim at an apartment building.

Cody Nichols, 22, was pronounced dead shortly after medics arrived.

It's Columbus's 78th homicide of 2017.
