Three dead in Fairfield County crash

BALTIMORE, Ohio (WTVN) -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol says three people were killed Monday morning when the car they were in went off a highway in Fairfield County then rolled down an embankment.

The names of those in the vehicle who died haven't been released yet.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on State Route 158, south of State Route 204.  A third person died at a local hospital.

An investigator with the Highway Patrol doesn't believe excessive speed was a factor in the crash.  But he noted there were no signs of braking or evasive maneuvering before the vehicle left the road.

As of 10:30 a.m. Monday, State Route 158 was still closed. Drivers were being directed onto Basil Road Northwest as an alternate.
