Motorcyclist Killed in I-270 Hit-and-Run

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says a man riding a motorcycle was killed in a hit-and-run accident along I-270 on the southeast side Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff says as traffic slowed on 270 east near Alum Creek Drive, just before 8AM, the motorcycle struck the rear of a dark colored pickup truck, according to witnesses. The motorcyclist was then struck by a red SUV.

Neither driver involved remained on scene after the crash. The motorcyclist, identified as 32-year-old John Diddle of Columbus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Investigators also say there's no indication drugs or alcohol were a factor. Witnesses also say both suspect vehicles possibly had what appeared to be a bar code in the rear driver's-side window, possibly used for scanning the vehicle.

The Sheriff's Office is asking for anyone with additional information to come forward.
