Double-amputee's cross-country run includes Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Rob Jones has just started his "Month of Marathons", running more than 26 miles every day for 31 days - in a row - in 31 different cities across the country.

His nationwide trek will bring him to Columbus on October 18th, when Rob will be hosted by the Columbus Division of Police along the Olentangy Trail.

Jones, from Lovettsville, Virginia, was a Marine serving in Afghanistan in 2010 when he stepped on an explosive device.

He lost both legs, but trained and eventually won a Bronze Medal in the 2012 Paralympics.

Next came a six-month, 5200-mile cross-country bicycle challenge from Maine to San Diego.

He says his goals now are to raise $1-million on behalf of recognized military charities and, at the same time, raise awareness of veteran’s causes.
