COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The weather may be getting colder, but Spirit Airlines made an announcement Wednesday that may have central Ohioans thinking warm thoughts.
Beginning in February 2018, the low-cost airline will begin offering services from John Glenn International Airport to places like Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, and Las Vegas. Those flights will be scheduled daily.
In addition, Spirit will offer seasonal daily flights to Tampa and ft. Myers. Those services run from February to April, and resume again in November.
Beginning in March, Spirit will have flights three times a week to and from new Orleans, and four times a week to and from Myrtle Beach. Service to those two cities runs seasonally through November.
"We are excited to bring our ultra-low fares to Columbus just in time for spring break, connecting central Ohio to some of Spirit’s top vacation destinations,” said Mark Kopczak, Spirit Airlines' Vice President of Network Planning. "With more daily, nonstop flight options to Florida and Las Vegas this winter, we know our guests will be able to save tons of money on air travel, and instead spend those savings on souvenirs, attractions and making memories on vacation.”
The airline claims that their fares are on average 30% lower than other carriers.
