Columbus police hunt for southeast side killers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN) -- Columbus police have identified the city's 133rd homicide victim of 2017, a man killed Wednesday night in a shooting on the southeast side of the city.

Police responded to a call along Alum Creek Drive, south of Frebis Ave. just before 11 p.m. and discovered Des'Juan Johnson, 20, on the side of the road. He was rushed to a hospital and died early Thursday.

Police learned that Johnson and another man, 18-year old Cameron Simpson, were in a car together when they were hit with bullets from an assault rifle and handguns.

Simpson was able to get away without getting hurt.

Earlier Wednesday evening on the East Side, one person was killed and three others--including a 9-year old--were wounded in a drive-by shooting.

It happened as a vigil was underway on East Barthman Avenue for the man who was killed on that same street earlier this week.
