COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--Supporters of Columbus Crew SC have joined forces to create a video to influence city leaders in Austin, Texas to keep the team here beyond 2018.
The video was produced by leaders of the "Save the Crew" movement, entitled, "Dear Austin". It seeks out city leaders in the Texas city, where Crew SC Owner Anthony Precourt is considering moving the team following the 2018 MLS season.
Crew SC supporters say the team is a part of the community, and they want to see Austin get a team, just in the right way. They compare the clash between the two cities now for the team to "The Hunger Games".
News broke in October that Precourt is considering the move, if the Crew doesn't have plans for a downtown, soccer-specific stadium.
A meeting weeks ago between Columbus leaders and the MLS higher-ups did not produce any results.
