New Info From Courthouse Shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the deputy involved in Wednesday's fatal shooting at the county courthouse, as well as surveillance video from the incident.

The Sheriff's office says Deputy Richard Scarborough responded to a disturbance in courtroom 56 Wednesday afternoon, where 16-year-old Joseph Haynes appeared before Magistrate Larry Sanchez on delinquency charges involving guns.

Haynes and his mother became agitated and disruptive in the courtroom, according the the Sheriff's Office, and were escorted outside the courtroom. That's where an altercation occurred involving Deputy Scarborough, Haynes, and his mother.

At some point, Scarborough was knocked to the ground and attacked. The Sheriff's office says Scarborough's gun was fired, hitting Haynes in the left torso. Haynes was transported to Grant Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation continues into the incident, and the Sheriff's Office says once that's concluded, the case will be presented to a grand jury for review.
