COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVN)--The Columbus Division of Police is firing back at criticism over a photo posted online over the weekend.
The photo appears to show an officer approaching a man with a gun drawn. On the department's facebook page, the department explains that the man sitting on the concrete wall is armed with a knife, and had a history of suicidal tendencies and violence.
The department says the situation was diffused without anyone getting injured, and the subject was taken to the hospital.
Users of social media criticized the department, saying the officer approached the man who did not appear to be armed.
